The salt bush is a native plant that grows wild in the hot, dry climate of Central Australia, often near water holes. This plant can survive the hot sun and long dry spells. After a big rain the salt bush comes to life and produces small berries. When the berries turn black they are ready to eat, they taste a little bit salty and sweet. Local Aboriginal women living in this remote area often go out and collect these berries.
