This is a painting about bush tomato’s that grow wild after a big rain in Central Australia. The leaves turn green and tiny purple flowers start to grow. The green fruit soon appears and then ripens into a yellow fruit which is good to eat. Sometimes the fruit left in the sun turns brown and dried, this is still good to eat.
Aboriginal women living in remote communities go out into the bush to collect these fruits, they know what to look for and where to find them, they learned from their elders and they will pass on this knowledge to the next generation.
