The painting “In my Country” is about my dreaming which is the ruby saltbush and the megafauna that’s found at Alcoota. The painting shows women collecting berries into their coolamons from the Ruby Saltbush. The surrounding dots represents the seeds that are ripe and raw after a big rain. Red/orange/yellow berries are ripe and have a strong sweet taste, when it is dry it tastes like dried apricot.
Megafauna Baru (giant crocodile figure) and Dromornis a giant flightless bird shown in this painting roamed Central Desert area approximately 8 million years ago. Dromornis was a plant eater.
