The painting “Life In The Central Desert” shows some of the abundant bush tucker found in the Central Desert area such as bush yams, bush tomato and bush oranges, they are found by the local Aboriginal people and harvested in summer or after raining. The bush medicine leaves in this painting are used by the local people to heal pain. The dots represent the desert and the rain that makes the plants grow.

Dromornis stirtoni and Baru are seen here also. They are creatures of the Miocene epoch which inhabited the land 8 million years ago. Fossilised remains of these creatures were found at the nearby Alcoota Scientific Reserve and feature in many works by the artists of Engawala Art Centre
